About the Course

The Holistic Herbalist Practitioner Program is an advanced level course that includes all material from the Master Herbalist and Herbalist Programs, in addition to an engaging discussion of anatomy concepts. It begins with the fascinating history of herbal medicine and delves into an introduction to botany where students will learn plant anatomy and scientific classifications. Students will gain a vital understanding of identifying plants by family characteristics and learn proper harvesting guidelines. Within the Holistic Herbalist Practitioner Program, students will become familiar with herbalist vocabulary and will learn common interactions between drugs, medicinal herbs, and vitamins. The course provides a fundamental understanding of human anatomy and the role herbal medicine plays within each system of the body. In this section of the course, students will be able to learn common conditions within each system and explore helpful herbs and remedies that are commonly used. The course concludes by applying all of this information to preparing herbal remedies at home. Within this section, students will learn about measurements and conversions, as well as determining dosages across age groups. Students will also gain the ability to confidently prepare herbal remedies, from teas and tinctures to creams and herbal candies.
